tap, tap....anyone out there?

Although I have come across lots of neat finds for boys and boy moms...I would love to hear what you love! Anytime you come across a neat product, outfit, store or funny story, please feel free to pass it on. We could all benefit from it. So...what are you gonna send first!?

Also, if you are ever compelled to leave a comment please do! My hope is for this blog to become a place for similar moms to share the ins and outs of being a 'boy mom'. So go ahead and join the club with a comment about what you think. I know you have thoughts about the things you see here...Tell us about it!

Vinyl Attraction

Vinyl Attraction has the greatest vinyl wall coverings. I especially love their jungle theme wall stickers and think it would liven up any playroom or boys room.

This is The Buddy's nursery that was painted by Lala (my mom)

Wouldn't this make a perfect addition?:

If the Jungle theme isn't for you, Sports might be.

Or just a good ole monogram...you can't go wrong with that!

Name Frame

I grew up with a very crafty mom, but unfortunately none of it trickled down to me. :o( My Mother is A-Amazingly creative and  never ceases to completely impress me with her ideas and projects. I am so intrigued by people that can create things. My cousins good friend, (and fellow boy mom) Rosemary, is one of these people. I have personally seen her creations and am impressed with how detailed she is.

Her Name Frame is a hot item that would be a cool addition to your Buddy's room or gift for a fellow boy mom! The best part of the process with Rosemary is that you can choose any color scheme or theme to completely customize your order. We are already working on one for The Buddy.

Check out the one she created for her son:

Isn't that a perfect gift idea?!

Time to Party Tuesday: Come Join the Swarm

Although I am new to the world of hosting kids birthday parties; I do have an obsession with party planning. Like I mentioned before it makes my heart swell!

With that said, This party was thrown for The Buddy's first birthday. It took forever to decide on the theme and we finally landed on Bugs. It was alot of fun! Even though I now know many party planning tips (like take more pics of all the hard work!), I still think that we did a bang up job for our little buddy. We had a really great day and will remember it forever. Here are the details:

Invitations ordered from The Party Starts Here where you can personalize the wording and they print them!

The set up! My mother made the Baby Einstein table complete with feet in order to seat 15 or so kids. The favors (bug catchers full of goodies) are lined up against the tall grass and the wood cut out was a big hit! We found a grass tablecloth in the sports section of the party store as a table cloth. It made a perfect drop cloth under the table.

{Cutie with her antenna and bug catcher favor}
Party stickers were on each favor and handed out when guests signed the guest book (the inside cover of a book to keep) and received their bug antennas.

The Cake...wish someone would have mentioned that black icing was a bad idea! The adults enjoyed dirt cake (where the cake looks like a potted plant, but is actually a really yummy pudding dessert)

We were blessed that most guests were able to attend and decided it would be too much for our little house, so we moved it to our church at the last minute. It was perfect becasue it had an indoor playground (a great find in August!). So always be on the look out for party place possibilities.

Even though The Buddy won't be two until August I am already knee deep in party planning. Just in case you were wondering...The theme is going to be Chutes and Ladders! What do you think??

"Clothes don't grow...kids do!"

The Buddy is currently 21 months old and most of his clothes are sized 12 months. We have a skinny kid here, so allllll the winter clothes I bought last year for him to wear this year are still hanging with the tags on them. I quickly learned that I don't have the luxury of buying out of season for the next year because I don't have any idea what size I need.

Now what to do with all the clothes that he never wore? I came across a new site called Thred Up and am totally intrigued. The idea is that you list a box of clothing (boxes are free too!) and can choose from tons of listed boxes in the sizes you need. Take one out, then put one in! It is like a giant swap party (which I am totally thinking of hosting too...think Swap til you drop...girls night...with your kids clothes! Would you come?) Anyway...you can browse by gender, size, brands and rating. So you can be confident you are getting what you want. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me! Check it out!

Rub a Dub

If your little guy is anything like The Buddy, then he looooves bath time. At my house you better not say bath unless you are ready to give one! I recently game across Alex bath toys while shopping in Nordstrom and think they would be a huge hit at my house.

Tub City

41 piece bath set complete with buildings, vehicles, trees and people

38 piece set includes 3 pirate squirters
Even if bath time is a fight at your house, I think these bath sets could change that. What does your little guy love to do in the bath?

Time to Jam

At my house jammies are a big deal. We love giving them as gifts (Bdays, Easter, Christmas Eve, etc), but I hate paying $17-$20 for decent jammies for The Buddy. Recently while at Wal-Mart I came across jammies that look JUST like the ones I have been paying so much for. I bought a few and they are JUST as great! Did you know they carry Carters too?

$7 Carter Jammies

Faded Glory brand $10 for 2 sets!!

I think that the designs are cute and The Buddy likes them too, so win-win for us! Jammies also make great gifts for all of those birthday parties your little Buddy has been invited to. I usually pair some jammies and good book. It is a big hit everytime!

Target Practice

Although I have not had to start the potty training process just yet, I have some friends that are starting to conquer that mountain. This post is for you! Stemming from the reviews alone it looks as though Tinkle Targets are a must have for the 'boy mom' climbing that daunting mountain.

Now, we have all heard of the cheerio method where you drop a cheerio in the bowl and have your little buddy aim....but I have also heard of the little buddy that insists on wanting to then grab the cheerio out of the bowl! Tinkle Targets use the same fascination of target practice without the temptation to grab.

The Tinkle Targets are biodegradable/flushable and generally come several to a pack. I am intrigued! I also like that they come in themes. There is Sports, Construction, and Transportation.

Do you have any potty training tips that another 'boy mom' could benefit from? Have you used Tinkle Targets?

Time to Party Tuesday: All Aboard!

My friend from High School and fellow 'boy mom', Nicki, has been bitten by the party planning bug too and she is goooood at it! You can check out her creative collection of parties Here:

She shows that a truly successful party starts with a theme that is carried throughout the entire party. From invites, food, food containers(!), and activites, she took a plain ol' train theme and made it uber awesome! Check out the details:

The spread! Check out the tubs disguised as train cars complete with smoke!

                           Homemade cupcake toppers
Kid perfect tables with conductors hats

Any kid's favorite favor...A Candy Buffet

This party wouldn't be compelete without a train ride!
